Chris Hemsworth on the Idea Behind Thor’s New Short Hair
Chris Hemsworth’s looks are largely dependent on his hairstyle. That is why fans were all eyes when he went on to wear rather short hair than his usual style.
Disciplined Style
With Thor participating in gladiatorial shenanigans in Ragnarok, you would be forgiven for presuming that he’s sporting a more disciplined hairstyle this time around simply because the plot required it. Nevertheless, the real factor is a lot more interesting.
On Tuesday, Entertainment Tonight published a video of an on-set interview with Thor star Chris Hemsworth, where he discussed why Thor actually has a makeover in the film. “There’s not a substantial description, actually. It’s the type of me going, ‘I do not wanna use the wig every day. It takes 2 hours to place on,'” Hemsworth stated. “Kind of just kept up the innovative license there. Give him a different appearance, you know?”
In Ragnarok, Thor gets his new hairstyle after being recorded by the Grandmaster (played by Jeff Goldblum), most likely as an outcome of being a detainee– and being required to take part in the gladiator-style battle.
Not Welcomed by Fans
When it was very first exposed that Thor would not have his usual long locks in the movie in March, the news was not received nicely by the fans: “Anyone in Marvel is not in his right mind, hear this: THOR is about the long hair. It’s sort of the entire point. He has to look absurd AND cool,” tweeted a fan on Twitter.
While Thor’s new hairstyle might have been more an item of external factors than what the film determined, it still fits naturally into the story and is a terrific way of signaling that Ragnarok might be a very different monster from the previous 2 Thor movies.
