Salma Hayek isn’t one of those actresses that grew up in the entertainment business. She is a late bloomer and only started acting at the age of 23. This might be because she came from a prominent Veracruz family that has Mexican and Lebanese descent. Her family could even afford to send her to a boarding school in America then later, she was able to have a university education in international relations. She used this later in her pursuit of women’s rights as she worked with various charitable organizations around the globe.
Her first acting gig came in the form of a 1989 telenovela in Mexico titled, “Teresa” where Salam Hayek played the titular role of the protagonist for one full season showcasing her long curly black hair with a subtle 80’s tousled look. She then landed the role of Alma in the highly celebrated Mexican film, The Alley of Miracles where she played a beautiful high-class prostitute with a long, thick and dark wavy hairstyle that is often loose on her shoulders.
At the age of 25, she moved to Los Angeles to really start her acting career in earnest. It was a rocky start for Salma but she got a big break in the form of Robert Rodriguez’s Desperado that she starred in with Antonio Banderas. Salma Hayek also got out of her black hair comfort zone back in 2018 as reported by Allure Magazine.
