I know you are going to love this week’s tutorial!
We are so happy to introduce two special guests for this video with Michelle Money (from ABC’s “The Bachelor” and runner up on “Bachelor Pad”) and her best friend/YouTube partner Laura Armstrong.
Many of you will recognize Michelle as a reality star, but did you also know that Michelle is a licensed cosmetologist? She has even offered to do a new cut and color on me soon! Laura is also a professional esthetician, and has a great knowledge of all things skin and beauty!
Some of you may be wondering how I came to know these two lovely ladies, so I will tell you the story…
I was sitting in my car waiting for gymnastics to end with CGH#4 and looked over to see Michelle waiting in the car next to me. I mustered up enough courage to go over and strike up a conversation with her. {She was so nice and did not seem as stand off-ish as many reality stars do!} In the process of our conversation, Michelle mentioned that she has a YouTube channel called the MMandLShow. I mentioned that my daughters and I also have a Youtube channel, and from there… the idea to do a collaboration video was born!
Of course I had to go home that night and check out their channel and quickly found myself watching many of their videos. I was intrigued by many of their hair-curling techniques {especially for more adult looking curls} and have been using some their techniques for months now on my own hair! I also loved many of their beauty secrets and one video in particular caught my eye {which I will detail in the next section}.
So I decided to meld the two together and film for you a beauty tip from the girls AND Michelle’s secret to her gorgeous curls for which she is widely known!

Beauty Tip: The PMD (Mersonal Microdermabrasion)
I’ll just be honest here… Michelle is as beautiful in real life as she is on TV, probably even more! When I saw her in person, I immediately was curious how she obtained such fabulous skin! So, of course my attention was peaked when I stumbled onto a video by both Laura and Michelle talking about their “magic skin secret”… the PMD Personal Microdermabrasion tool!
I was curious enough that I ended up finding one myself and trying it out!
I’m happy to report that I’ve now been using it for about 3 months and I absolutely LOVE it!!! I simply incorporated it into my skin care regiment for once a week. It really does leave my skin feeling sooooo smooth, soft, and less wrinkly!
For those of you not familiar with the PMD, it essentially buffs the top layer of dead skin away which then gives your skin a more soft, younger looking, and fresh look. You will find that it helps control fine lines, wrinkles, big pores, and even some acne scarring.
Once I had tried it, and decided I loved it on my skin, I thought I would try it on my daughter’s skin. She is almost 13, and doesn’t have fine lines or wrinkles yet… but she is getting some of that normal teenage acne on her forehead and nose. I thought I would just test it out on her as well to see if the PMD would help with the acne. I was enthusiastically surprised when it did! Not that it cleared up her acne 100%, but I can tell that it removed some of the worst dead skin and pore-clogging oils from the surface and allowed her acne cream to absorb better.
When using the PMD, make sure you view the accompanying instructional DVD first, to avoid damaging the skin.
I’m sure you will love this little secret! After I started telling people about how much I liked it, I was surprised to learn how many other people I know are already using it! Hahahaha… I guess I am on the “slow boat ” with this one! Other YouTubers like AndreasChoice, MissGlamorazzi, Elle Fowler’s AllThatGlitters21, etc, have all been talking about it already!
If you decide you want to try the PMD, as I have done, you can do so by visiting the PMD Website here. If you enter the coupon code CuteGirlsHairstyles, then you can receive 25% off of your order! Thank you, PMD!

Hair Technique: Michelle Money Curls
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, flat iron, 1 inch or 1 ¼ inch curling iron {we used Hot Tools brand}, hairspray, dry shampoo, and pomade
Time Requirement: Approximately 30 minutes {depending on amount of hair}
Skill Level: Hard
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Begin with clean, dry hair and flat iron the hair beforehand {This is Michelle’s secret trick… even flat ironing the bottom 6 inches of hair will work}… Separate hair into small sections starting with hair closest to neck and working up. Take smaller sections of hair, about a 2 inch square, and spray with hair spray… Work hair around the barrel of curling iron, but leave out the last 2-3 inches of hair. This will keep the ends looking flat a provide the more messy, “tousled look” that everyone wants right now… Continue to curl hair all over head in the same manner. Your goal is to create curls that are less tight-spiral looking and more like a loose bend. {This technique just provides a more natural, sophisticated look.} Use a flat iron to give bangs {if you have them} a quick pull and flip the ends out ever so slightly… you want your bangs to blend into the hair on the sides of the head. Use a dry-shampoo spray at the roots, and around your hairline. This will prevent oil buildup over the next few days and will create texture and volume in the hair. Using pomade, run a little dab through your fingertips and then onto the ends of your hair to control flyways. Last but not least… LOVE your new look! This hairstyle may take a little more time, depending on your length of hair, but it will create an amazing look that will last for several days! Believe it or not, the curls will actually get better looking as the days go on. In this video, Michelle’s were already three days old, and I wore this style for 4 days before washing again and it looked great!
Enjoy, and Happy Hairdoing!
