Fishtail-Accented Ponytail | Hairstyles for Sports

More likely because our girls are more into dance and cheer more than they are in other sports or athletics, we have been lacking in the Sport Hairstyles category.

So today, CGH#3 decided she wanted to show you an awesome one! Below you will learn exactly how to create a Fishtail-Accented Ponytail.Fishtail Accented Ponytail | Hairstyles for SportsThis is one of her personal hairstyle favorites, because it spices up a regular old ponytail. {If you can’t tell, we’ve been on a fishtail braid kick lately!} We added a pompadour on top, and the micro-fishtail braid and hair-wrap as accents to the ponytail. It looks a lot better this way, right?

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 1 ponytail holder, 2 small hair elastics, 3-4 small bobby pins, hairspray and accessory {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 6-8 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Begin by sectioning off a square section of hair at the front top of the head… Then, to create a pompadour, tease it a little to add some volume underneath and then smooth the top of the hair over with a smoothing brush… Next, secure this section with an hair elastic that matches your hair color {ensuring that it poofs up a little at the front for added shape and volume}… Then, fishtail braid this section and then secure with another hair elastic that matches the hair color… Clip this braid out of the way for a few minutes…. Now, pull the rest of the hair back to base of neck and secure into a tight, low ponytail with a ponytail holder… Take a small strand of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the ponytail elastic, to hide it, and secure with bobby pins… Now unclip the fishtail and place it directly-centered, straight down the head and over the hair wrapped section… Use a couple of bobby pins to secure it against the head near where the ponytail is secured {for sports, you may opt to add another ponytail holder here, instead of the bobby pins, for added security}… Lastly, add hairspray or accessories {as desired}.
