Double Dutchback | Heidi Klum Hairstyles

My dad is so cute! He’s so proud of our family, our fans, and what this hair thing has accomplished! Dad’s always texting or emailing me photos of hairstyles he sees when he is running errands, or even watching TV!

Several weeks ago, he emailed me a photo of a hairstyle worn by Heidi Klum during an episode America’s Got Talent. {Funny thing, I had seen the episode and thought her hair looked awesome!} In the email, he hinted that we “should seriously film a video of it!”

Dad, this one is for you! Today we are going to show you how to create an edgy Side Double Dutchback hairstyle!

Double Dutchback Rocker Hairstyle

We used a base of subtle waves for this hairstyle, and the combo consists of two Dutch braids on only one side of the head. The braids go back, then wrap down, and underneath the back of the head where the braids are secured an hair elastic. This cute hairstyle provides an “edgy” look that would be perfect for competitive dance or cheer teams. {I can foresee several dance groups wearing this one, for sure!} We wear it around here to provide that perfect POP with cute jeans, sneakers, and a t-shirt.

This style can also be worn for several days, and looks adorable with straight, curly, or wavy hair! If you are careful with it, you can wear it for several days in a row, too!

To see your hairstyle recreations featured in our CGH App, feel free to tag your own photos of this hairstyle on Instagram with: #CGHDoubleDutchback

It is another way to get the “shaved” look without committing to a razor and half-bald head! {We’ve posted another single single side-up hairstyle called Side Flat Twists here before, and it was a very popular one.}

Please leave a comment below letting me know what TV shows you love, especially those that showcase great hair! I’d like to know!

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, spray wax, 1 hair elastic, 1 ponytail holder, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 7-10 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Begin by parting a section of hair about on one side, about 1-1.5 inchs above the ear, towards the back of the head… Then, slightly curve the part to follow your hairline above the nape of the neck… Secure the rest of the hair out of the way with a ponytail holder… Create a Dutch braid with the section you just created above the ear, braiding it back and down, and underneath the set-aside hair… When you reach the back corner of the head, at the nape of the neck, feel free to braid down a few simple braid stitches, and secure with an elastic… Now go back to the side and part a new section of hair about 1-1.5 inches above the the previous part, following it down and along the back as before… Secure the remaining hair, again, out of the way with a ponytail holder… With your newly created parted section, create a second Dutch braid, following it down along the back as before… When you reach the back corner of the head, feel free to remove the elastic from the previous braid, and combine the two braids together and re-secure with the elastic… Lastly, remove the ponytail holder from the set-aside section, and allow it to fall naturally {this will hide the elastic from the braids and also give your hair that completed, fun, edgy “shaved” look}… Add soft curls to the hair, and hairspray {if desired}.

Happy Hairstyling!

A week ago, while we were in LA for BeautyCon, we met up with a good friend, Andrea Brooks from AndreasChoice. She and her sister Brittany are twins as well, and they are fascinated with Brooklyn and Bailey. So much so, that they decided to film a video together to determine if Twinepathy {twin telepathy} really exists!

The video is now on the girls’ BrooklynAndBailey YouTube channel, so feel free to click below and watch it! Prepare to laugh!
