2-in-1 Angel Wing Combo

It’s time for another 2-in-1 combo hairstyle, and it is simply beautiful! This was originally only a half-up style and is inspired by Cynthia Truong. You can see Cynthia’s tutorial here.

We’ve been doing tiebacks and half-up styles on CHG here for years, and there are many favorites that my girls just LOVE! This one is no exception!

2-in1 Angel Wing Combo Hairstyle The pattern created by style’s stranding looks very much like angel wings, don’t you think? We added a loose fishtail braid and micro-crimps add texture and complete the combo.

This isn’t a hairstyle we would recommend for an active day. You can wear this hairstyle dressed up or down. I really like how Kamri is dressed in this shoot.

Fishtail Braid

Items Needed: Texturing iron, brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, 2 small hair elastics, hairspray {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Step-By-Step Instructions:

Begin with hair down.  We added some micro crimps for added fullness.  Curling the hair prior to braiding will add volume and texture. Pull a section of hair back from each side of the head above the ears and secure with an elastic. Now create a hole on the left side of your pulled back strand, about 2/3 up the section.  Take a small piece of hair right behind the left ear loop it thru the hole. (see video for further details about this process) Still working on the lift side of the head.  Take a second small piece of hair from right behind the left ear and loop it thru another hole just under the first hole. Take a 3rd small piece of hair from right, behind the left ear and loop it thru one last hole, just below the other two. Repeat the steps 3-5 on the right side of the head to create the angle wings effect. You can now leave the hair down or you can opt to create a combo out of this style. We added a fishtail at the end of the hair and then pancaked it to make it extra full and fluffy. Secure the fishtail with an elastic.
