Video Tutorial: Wrap-Around French Braid

In January 2009, I posted a hairdo described as Wrap-Around French Braid. (It would more appropriately be named a Wrap-Around Halfsie-French “Pop-Out” into a Side Pony, but we would lose people at halfsie!) A photo of the completed hairdo is seen here…

Wrap-Around French Braid

I have had a few readers ask for a video tutorial to show exactly how this hairdo is done. (Just like in French Braiding, sometimes it is better to see it done, rather than try and follow a picture tutorial.) Having just received my iFlip video camera back from a good friend, I decided to show you exactly how to create this beautiful hairdo…

Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, 1 hair elastic, hairspray and accessory {if desired}.

Time Requirement: 3-5 minutes

Skill Level: Medium

Wrap-Around French Braid

Step-By-Step Instructions:

Start with wet hair and comb out all the lumps, bumps and tangles.  I parted the hair on the left. On the same side as your part, pick up a small section of hair. Divide section into three small sections like you are going to start a French Braid. Start braiding into a french braid, ONLY adding in hair along the bottom.  (Closest to ear and neck) Continue to braid around the head and low along the baseline of the hair. When you have braided all the way around, secure your ponytail with an elastic.  (Should be at the opposite ear from where you started. Spritz with a little hair spray if desired. Add bow or flower for added cuteness!

Happy Hairdoing!
