The hairstyle for this week uses a variation of our popular Waterfall Braid tutorial {over 16 million views}. I think you’re going to LOVE what we do with this!
Everyone knows that the waterfall braid has become a very popular hairstyle. Have you thought about wearing it as a headband? Well… we decided to try it and the hairstyle turned out simply gorgeous!
Recreate the Hairstyle:
Begin by sectioning hair from ear to ear. Secure bottom section of hair with an elastic to keep it out of the way. Create a Waterfall Braid starting near one ear, going up over the forehead, and down to the other ear. Make sure all dropped strands fall toward the back of your head. Secure the braid right behind your ear with a tiny elastic the same color as your hair. There you have it! Pretty easy, right?Now, to show you just how versatile this hairstyle accent can be, I’m going to show you four different ways to finish off the headband!
1. Waterfall Headband into Gorgeous Curls/Waves
Leave your hair down and add a few cute curls. The dropped strands will cascade over your head and down with the rest of the curls. {You can view our NuMe Wand Curl video or our Sock Curls tutorial to get ideas on how to create gorgeous curls.}
2. Waterfall Headband into a {Hair-Wrapped} High Ponytail
Pick up all of the hair previously secured out the way, and brush upwards and into a high pony tail. Add in the dropped pieces from the waterfall braid {be careful not to pull too hard on the strands and un-straighten the waterfall braid}. Add an elastic to secure the high ponytail. Grab a small strand of hair and do a hair wrap to cover the elastic, or even a cute microbraid for a fun accent. {This version is PERFECT for girls need to wear a ponytail, in sports, for example, but still want to have a little fun flair to the hair!}
3. Waterfall Headband into a Bun with Accent Braid
Create a high ponytail, however this time twist the hair into a ballet bun and secure with an elastic. Braid the remainder of the waterfall braid behind the ear and create a long microbraid and wrap it around the bun for a little add flair. {This is a great twist on a bun for all of you girls that love dance and ballet!}
4. Waterfall Headband into a Messy Bun
Create the high ponytail, as before. Now mix it up by adding a super cute Messy Bun…
When you are finished, you will have four fantastic look… all very different yet absolutely beautiful! I’m sure you are going to receive may compliments on this one!
